Menopause Yoga:
Awakening to your Second Spring

What is Menopause Yoga?

Menopause yoga is an approach to yoga which takes in the western scientific knowledge and an eastern approach to wellbeing. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the menopause journey is linked to seasons and viewed as a positive step towards  It is a sensitive form of yoga which incorporates yoga sequences taken from Hatha, Yin and Restorative yoga. It is designed specifically for women during the peri menopause through the menopause and post menopause. The sequences are specially adapted using props to maintain comfort, whilst also building strength, flexibility and supporting muscle mass.​ Through Menopause Yoga we aim to share information with women about their menopause journey and empower them to be more proactive in this transition period. 

In my workshops I aim to provide a safe space to share information and experience with women in a confidential way, practice yoga sequences in a safe, trauma informed way, and support them to leave the workshop inspired, empowered and informed.

What to expect from Menopause Yoga

In Menopause Yoga there are 5 main sessions aimed at specific parts of the menopause.

  • The Menopause Bridge is suitable for all stages of the Menopause.

  • Peri menopause relates to the season of late summer and focuses on hot flushes

  • Peri Menopause relates to the autumn and focuses on menopause rage and irritability

  • Menopause relates to the season of winter  and specifically focuses on anxiety, overwhelm, insomnia and fatigue

  • Post Menopause relates to the second spring and focuses on reawakening and re-energising

 

There are 3 key elements to a Menopause Yoga workshop. Each one includes general information sharing, a wonderful Menopause Yoga practice to leave you fully relaxed and an opportunity for journaling, and a safe supportive women's circle. 

Benefits of practicing Menopause Yoga include:

  • Knowing what symptoms may occur.

  • Breathing techniques which can be practiced anywhere

  • Learning practices and sequences which help relieve symptoms

  • Journaling techniques to support self study

  • Women's circle and opportunities to talk to other women going through the same experience.
